# Install

## Requirements

Intel Macs are not supported. The preview and the export rely on the media engine of the M-series chips.

## Download

Download the disk image from [usebetterapps.com/betteredits/download](https://usebetterapps.com/betteredits/download). Open it and drag BetterEdits to Applications. The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized, so macOS opens it without a warning.

## First launch

The first launch shows the Welcome to BetterEdits window. It plays a tour of three slides, then an offer. Use Continue and Back, or the arrow keys.

The last slide depends on what this Mac already knows.

The footer always offers a way out. Without an account it says "Already have an account? Sign in". With one it says "Not you? Use a different account".

The trial lasts seven days and includes 300 credits. A card is taken at sign-up and nothing is charged until the trial ends.

## Finishing in the browser

The button opens the BetterApps dashboard in your browser. Sign up or sign in there and complete the checkout. The last page hands you back to the app, which unlocks by itself. While you are in the browser the window says "Finish in your browser" with two buttons: Open the browser again and Cancel.

Once the app is unlocked the workspace window opens. Nothing in the app works while it is locked, including the command line.

> BetterLibrary and BetterEdits share one account file on this Mac. If BetterLibrary is already signed in, BetterEdits still plays its tour once, but the last slide only asks you to start this app's trial.

## Later launches

After the tour has played once, a locked launch shows a short panel with the same offer and no slides. When the trial or subscription has ended the panel says so and offers Subscribe to BetterEdits, Manage subscription and Sign out.

## Uninstall

Drag BetterEdits out of Applications. Workspaces are plain folders and stay where they are.
